I was born where I couldn\u2019t belong
\nAnd I belong where I cannot be born
\nMy tongue would be tied
\nI too, might as well
\nBe tied, and tied in a sack
\nTied into a fast flowing river
\nHappy that I escaped,
\nAlas! I still am!<\/p>\n
I was born where I couldn\u2019t belong
\nWhere I was to believe fully,
\nThat I partially did
\nI wanted freedom-
\nHard to find it
\nEnded up in scrutiny<\/p>\n
Barbed fences
\nContained it
\nWholly humans
\nCouldn\u2019t be as well
\nBut we were contained
\nWithin the fences
\nWithin gruesome scrutiny<\/p>\n
Freedom seeks itself-
\nThrough the barbed fence
\nPull the fence up
\nSome thorns into your hands
\nSome into your back
\nExtra blood pumps into your heart
\nRacing off-free
\nRacing off-terrified
\nAway from scrutiny<\/p>\n
Peeling off some skin
\nReeling off \u2013 away
\nFree would I be!<\/p>\n
Very short lived
\nBut free
\nLike quicksand
\nMy freedom would perish
\nSoon,
\nAs the locals
\nRecognized me easy
\nSame color
\nSame tongue
\nBut they knew
\nWho I was-
\nPast the fence
\nUnder scrutiny!
\nI left the scrutiny
\nAnd where is freedom?<\/p>\n
I belong where I cannot be born
\nFreedom of speech-
\nIt\u2019s the law
\nThat of thought
\nThat of conscience
\nNonetheless to see
\nTolerance and respect
\nNot much a reality!
\nNo one understands
\nOr wants to understand
\nThe cause of it all
\nThat made me to flee<\/p>\n
I belong where I cannot be born
\nI want to believe that I am free-
\nTo practice my way of life
\nTo appreciate the essence of plurality
\nTolerance and respect
\nThat would help cease it all-
\nThe problems we face as humanity<\/p>\n
I want to believe that I am free
\nBut they want me to believe
\nWhat I never did
\nWill never want to believe
\nI respect their thoughts
\nThey don\u2019t want to mine
\nTough times
\nEnough had I
\nPerhaps enough shall I<\/p>\n
Charities \u2013
\nPity befalls
\nI am grateful, that they help
\nIn return but more,
\nThey want me to succumb
\nGet lost:
\nForever, forever
\nI was born where I couldn\u2019t belong
\nI cannot be born, where I belong.<\/p>\n
