On the occasion of India’s 74th Independence Day, a 33-year-old Bhutanese poet, Shiva Kumari Bista, was honored with an award by Gujarat Sahitya Akademi in collaboration with Motivational Strips, a writers’ forum incepted in India.<\/p>\n

The organizers claimed that this was the first time two world popular literary entities had merged to identify national and international talents.<\/p>\n

“I feel that my effort in poetry has seen success finally. It is a proud moment for me and my country. I feel that this award would be making our Bhutanese writers more recognizable worldwide”, Bhutan Times quotes Bista as saying.<\/p>\n

Bista, who lives in Thimpu, is originally from Damphu, Chirang. She writes regularly on her Facebook Page<\/a>.<\/p>\n
