Felicitation

To inform and to be informed is very essential for every human today. Information brings the four corners of the world nearer and closer. It used to take days and months in a conventional communication system to transfer information and used to be very expensive matter. It has become a thing of the past within a short span of time due to development in technology. There has been a paradigm shift in the system of information exchange and sharing with the evolution of internet and other telecommunication media. Significant improvements in terms of fastness, accuracy, timeliness and affordability have been achieved. Several online newspapers, literary E-magazines and websites have been opened and operated by agencies and societies to provide local, national and international news on a real time basis.

To address the need of the exiled Bhutanese, tri-lingual e-magazine Bhutanese Literature.com was launched on this day 05/07/2009. A year has been completed most successfully today and looks forward to yet another year in its life.

The objectives of this literary website are multiple. It tries to bring to light the news, views primarily of Bhutanese both in the camps and those resettled in various parts of the world and news pertaining to the Bhutanese and Bhutan on a real time basis. Its main emphasis is to present information in a much unbiased manner in order to gain the credibility and develop support from interested parties’ all over the world. The site tries to include academic articles and tries to bring the community closer together in many terms. It provides an open forum for debate and free criticisms of any topic of interest.

Today is the end of the first year and the beginning of yet another optimistic year in its life. As a new born media service, it struggled a bit to receive the required support in the beginning but its success brought a great sense of satisfaction among the management team. I would like express gratitude, heartfelt thanks and felicitation to the editorial team and the Board of Executive Directors of this site for the kindness and support to launch this web site. I also wish all the best to the management team and hope your contribution will be highly valued in future too.
