November 5, 2024

“Her Innocence Discovered,” the English translation of J.N. Dahal’s Nepali novel Prahelika, is now available. The novel, which debuted nearly a year ago, received the HimTika fictional award at a convention in Canada hosted by the Literature Council of Bhutan. Dr. Bal Ram Adhikari, a lecturer at Tribhuvan University in Nepal, performed the translation.

The book explores the experiences of Anushka, a young Asian woman facing challenges with her asexuality during her honeymoon. It also highlights Mrs. Sharma’s struggles with gender discrimination, providing a broader view of societal issues affecting women.

Dahal, who is also a member of Bhutaneseliterature.com’s Editorial Team, has published numerous short stories, essays, and travelogues. His anthology, “Lekhak ki Chhori” (Writer’s Daughter), won the INLS Best Diaspora Book Award in 2022.

Dr. Adhikari’s translation aims to bring the depth and nuances of the original Nepali text to an English-speaking audience, focusing on preserving the cultural and emotional integrity of the original narrative.

“Her Innocence Discovered” is available for purchase in eBook, paperback, and hardcover formats on major platforms such as Amazon, Booktopia, Bokus, and Barnes & Noble.
