STANDING ON THE NO MAN’S LAND OF LIFE
Xitizko Mitra Prakash Dhamala
Australia
My dreams were shattered
And I was expelled from the womb of my native land
Where the new moon slept upon me
Where the full moon sang with me
Where the mourning cry of Manas1 river
Reverberated through my thoughts
Where the rosy lips of my daughter
Haunted me once in every dusk.
Disastrously,
I was given a cold shoulder
My passion of mankind was let down
I was executed for my voice of equality
I was banned from dreaming
The world of life
The world of happiness
The world of liberty
I still remember the past days
The clouds of falsehood
The puff of intimidations
The yells of women being raped
And the insane shooting….
Of my fathers, mothers, sisters and brothers.
Presently,
Standing on the no man’s land of life
My plea to the world of justice
My appeal to the world of humanity is that
My country still isn’t freed from
The cruel monarchical paws
From the snare of pompous drama of human rights
Where hundreds of thousands like me are exiled
In the name of Gross National Happiness
In the name of One Nation One People.
