Bhutaneseliterature.com Congratulates Its Editor, JN Dahal

In a press meet organized in Kathmandu, JN Dahal, one of the editors of Bhutaneseliterature.com, has been identified as one of the top 25 story writers in the well-known ‘Dish Home Baahrakhari Story Writing Competition – 2080’. This competition is renowned for its established standards and an esteemed panel of external judges.

In an announcement, Baahrakhari.com reported that it received 843 stories from national and international writers for the fifth installment of the Baahrakhari Story Writing Competition. Among these submissions, 55 stories were selected by Baahrakhari’s internal jury and then presented to the external jury panel.

This panel, led by the respected critic Professor Dr. Sabitri Kakshyapati and including award-winning fiction authors Mahesh Bikram Shah and Subin Bhattarai, will select the first, second, and third best stories. These will be awarded cash prizes of 100 thousand, 60 thousand, and 40 thousand rupees, respectively, along with a prize and certificate. The remaining 22 storytellers among the best 25 will each be awarded five thousand rupees.

JN Dahal has been contributing to Bhutaneseliterature.com as a writer since its inception in 2009 and as an editor for the past two years. Dahal has published several short stories and poems on different literary portals. His anthology Lekhak ki Chhori (Writer’s Daughter) received the INLS (International Nepali Literature Society) Best Diaspora Book Award in 2022. At the same event, another editor of Bhutaneseliterature.com, Dr. Laxmi Narayan Dhakal, received the Hom Nath Subedi Diaspora Literature Award for his book Baas Dekhi Punarbaas Samma (From Home to Resettlement).

In a similar award ceremony organized by INLS this year, Khem Rizal received the Laxman Satyal Best Song-Ghazal Award for his book Urja (Energy). Rizal is the General Secretary of the Literature Council of Bhutan (LCOB), which owns and manages Bhutaneseliterature.com. LCOB was established in 1993 as Nepali Bhasha Parishad, Bhutan, in Bhutanese Refugee Camps in Nepal, at a time when victims of Bhutanese atrocities were struggling for the very basic needs of their existence.
