As always, the day ended
Nevertheless, for her, it seemed the longest
Dusk added mild stressRestlessness,
worry and unseen pain grown.
She moves in and out her room
Looks towards the pellucid firmament
Finds moon in so lackluster state,
With heavy heart lowers the lantern’s wick,
And pulls with care the trousseau bag at reach,
Ponders for a while… emptied a good jug.

Gives laconic thoughts over her fallow thought,
Then mercury runs her desirous nerves.
‘So early, the following day
I’m to leave this haven
Leave this bed as old as I
I’m to respect the natural law.
I’m alone as now
By exact moment tomorrow
I will be in spousal shape,
My forehead be embellished with vermilion
Neck garlanded with Green beads.
The long awaited unquenched lust—
Unloosed romantic mint behind my youthful veil
Shall rile doves in spring,
May hydra blame nature,
Thank God.
My new B-day be tomorrow.”

She makes hushed tone,
‘My ma! She may swim in tears
While I enter the new home-
Pa may pour blame on her,
Of course, they shouldn’t
God, do lend your hand
Help them recall their young-days,
Define my budding time”.
She kisses her palm and blows out.
‘Yah! Clock is in full swing
I’ll elope early the following day’.
