Tihar

Ghanashyam Regmi
USA

Comes again on a cycle, divine festival of fun,
It is Laxmi Puja in ease joyous lights turned on
With the heart of sheerness ask Her for a boon
Oh, in each and every house do set a Puja soon!

Put on Tika graceful from the sisters’ hand,
Eat Roti in such a joy with love the sisters lend
Put garlands turfiest sisters have bestrewn by
With topi on head happily sisters given by.

Nepali together we are, we must keep it alive
Promoted by Arayan-law in  various walks of drive
The festival of a year that rejoices our heart
Sisters and brothers celebrate together in a just.

Play in rhythm Deusi-Bhaeli the houses are lighted
From house to houses singing Ram’s story delighted
Rows of lamps in every house against nomoon night
Laxmi boons certain with grains and wealth aright.

Ancient cult of Nepali reflects as old as before
Dhaka-topi
as hills topless high heads in a soar
Inner pompous shares  indeed empty hand of a fall
If sipped as a bumble bee, remains nothing at all.

I appraise your sweetly translated verses nonthelesss, I’ve not seen anything of the orginal poem.Sweet Yuwarajji!

The second sentence is really baffling and ambiguous. “You haven’t read the original poem or you didn’t see any originality in the translation” is contradicting. Thank you for appraising!

I meant I’d not read anything related to the original poem! However, you have beautifully played the strings of words into versified poetic style -that I admired and liked!
