Being cared of, and having to care

Dona Acharya

I think of my refugee life,
All the hardships aside-
People were cared of;
Rationed, meager it was!!

When one gets cared,
Without having to care-
For what one gets
And how they get,
In a routine they get,
And they get it all!
All the time

When a pig is fed,
In a sty-
To build its body
To maximize the yield,
It doesn’t know a life outside-
Leave it loose, on its own,
And may it die.

Without knowhow to graze
And find the feed it needs,
It may starve,
When there might be enough
It can live on, if it goes around!

This entitlement-
Isn’t there to stay,
If people realize-
They are the ones
To make or break their lives!

Being cared of, and having to care-
For one’s self and for all,
These pigs need to be made to graze on their own
Then, the yield will be, but healthy.

Being cared of, and having to care
Is but different
Quite different indeed !
