Unhopeful Hopes

I feel suffocated, and unable to breathe.
My heart is pounding, but the beats don’t seem to stop.
Your words wrap around my neck, tightening your grip on me.
As I scream and shout for help, the choking just doesn’t seem to stop.
Disguised as a red carpet, the thorns that prick my feet.
The tears fall, but the punishment just never seems to stop.
I look at myself, only to find a helpless and broken me.
The disgust remains unwashable and my cries remain an unheard plea.
Great work, Chanu!
