Bhutaneseliterature.com in 2010

We have finally waved good-bye to 2010 and have entered a new time of hope, optimism, and aspiration and today we have stepped ahead with the first issue of 2011. Bhutaneseliterature.com was formally launched in May 2009. During the course of its continuous (but significantly short) journey of 20 months, Bhutaneseliterature.com has experienced many motivating moments. Developing a common platform for the writers (who are geographically dispersed across the globe) for expressing their sentiments is not an easy task. In fact, a culture of reading and writing is just rooting slowly. Despite being in this circumstance, we have been able to publish around 500 new articles in 2010.

But we still lag behind, in a sense, to bring forward critical write-ups, reports based on research and varied literary creations. We have published a lot of poems, gazals and alike and have tried to bring some stories, literary analyses, and some reports. It is still a beginning; a renaissance for protecting and promoting our language and literature.

A writer takes a long time to give creation to the readers. He/she artistically presents the pains and sorrows, woes and worries, grieves and tragedies, hopes and aspirations, sentiments and romances and many more of the time he/she lives in. To a considerable extent, today’s Bhutanese writers are in most awkward time, the time that demands every drop of their sweat for minimum survival but yet they are writing. On the other hand, a bitter truth is that we have very few readers. An article in an issue is sometimes read less than a hundred times within a run of a year. This surely is not a motivating situation in literature but at the same time, owing to the fact that the number of readers is subsequently increasing, we need to be hopeful.
