Ramesh Gautam is a writer, journalist and blogger. With a keen interest in literature and journalism from very childhood age, he has made is strong presence in Bhutanese journalism and literature since 2009. Born in Lamidara, a village in Chirang district in South-Bhutan, in 1983, Gautam fled Bhutan together with his parents in 1992. Gautams were living in a refugee camp managed by UNHCR and located in Morang district in eastern Nepal.
Completing his secondary school education from a school in the refugee camp, Gautam acquired his Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from Tribhuvan University, Nepal. Presently, he is Energy Engineering student at University of Tromsø, Norway.
Gautam is Founding Chair of Bhutaneseliterature.com, first online literary portal of Bhutanese literature, started from May 2009. Worked as Managing Editor from the time of its establishment, Gautam is Chief Editor of the portal. Gautam serves also as Publication Secretary for Literature Council of Bhutan, which was formed in 1993 and subsequently reshaped in 2011.
Gautam has been associated with Bhutan News Service from 2009 as senior correspondent, Europe. During his tenure, he has made a wide coverage in news, features, interviews and panel discussions both for the news portals and Saranarthi Sarokar, a radio program broadcasted from Katmandu and Jhapa.
